Former Premier League defender Danny Simpson has pleaded with Wilfried Zaha’s former club, Manchester United, to “bring him back” because he believes Liverpool “could do with” a player of his caliber.
In addition to Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota, the Reds have just bolstered their assault with the £45 million arrival of Cody Gakpo.
As they now sit tenth in the Premier League, Liverpool has a lack of depth in the midfield as several of Jurgen Klopp’s players have struggled thus far this season.
However, Simpson, a former defender for Newcastle United and Leicester City, believes that Liverpool should pursue Crystal Palace winger Zaha, whose contract expires in the summer.
He is free to travel wherever he wants, according to Simpson, who spoke to Stadium Astro. I believe Wilf [Zaha] performs better when he is the star player.
“He visited Man United. Although he was much younger, he won’t be the primary guy if he joins another top-four or top-six squad, so it will be intriguing to see where he goes.
“I feel that Liverpool could use him right now since things aren’t working out for them.
“I’d return him here [to Old Trafford]. Marcus Rashford is the number nine, and Wilfried is positioned to the left. That also has some firepower.
Liverpool are currently 11 points behind fourth-place Newcastle, which means they may have problems luring the players they want for next season unless they make the Champions League.
Alisson, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, believes the Reds should take inspiration from their improved play in the second half of their 3-0 loss to Wolves.
Alisson told the club’s official website, “We have to worry about the next matches; that’s what we have in our hands.” We can’t focus too much on what we can do at the end of the season because of our current situation.
“To win the next game that is in front of us, we must consider how we might improve right now. All done.
“Although we weren’t in a position of confidence, we tried. You don’t score and you concede again, so it’s extremely frustrating from my perspective. We played well in the second half before conceding again.
“It appears that throughout the first fifteen minutes of the game, we were two steps backward before moving one step forward. Because of the outcome, we still need to take additional steps.
The second half’s performance was a significant improvement; if you watched the game, you would have seen two entirely different teams. We must use such opportunities in the upcoming game, stop giving up pointless goals, and take that into consideration.
Transfer gossip: Liverpool invite offers for struggling star, Man Utd to break record for striker
FOR A CENTRE-BACK PAIR, LIVERPOOL WILL CONSIDER OFFERS
Joel Matip’s reported interest from Liverpool in receiving offers is not shocking to anyone who has watched him play this season.
Matip was at the center of a terrible defensive showing at Wolves on Saturday, which Jurgen Klopp was unable to explain. Although Matip has been awful for much of the season, he wasn’t the only underwhelming player; everyone at Anfield is to blame for their current slump.
Football Insider claims that Liverpool has made the decision to offload the 31-year-old. Additionally, they are prepared to let Nat Phillips go after forcing the backup defender to stay for the last couple of windows due to concerns about cover.
Consequently, Liverpool will be looking to add at least one senior center-back this summer. of course, a midfielder. Unless they choose to again disregard the blatantly apparent and spend lavishly on a forward…
Spanish duo REDS TARGET
If an AS report linking Liverpool to an Athletic Bilbao player is accurate, then this is a real possibility.
The Reds initially expressed interest in Nico Williams in January, and it appears that they are now prepared to invest roughly £45 million on him. Aston Villa also declared their interest in signing the 20-year-old international from Spain.
Oihan Sancet is reportedly a target for Klopp, which might help Liverpool partially cover their midfield vacancy at the same time. Sanchet, an attacking midfielder, has scored seven goals so far this campaign, including a hat-trick on Friday in a 4-1 victory over Cadiz.
United is prepared to set a new record for OSimhen.
Manchester United’s top objective this summer, like Liverpool’s, is a center-forward.
There are still rumors that they are interested in Tottenham’s record-breaking Harry Kane, particularly as his contract with the club is coming to an end. Victor Oshimhen, however, is the other hit man in the picture.
Throughout Napoli’s climb to the top of Serie A this season, the Nigerian star has once again been in excellent form. With United, Chelsea (obviously), and Real Madrid among the clubs most interested in signing Oshimhen in the summer, his 16 goals in 17 games have helped his team open up a 13-point lead at the top.
United are reportedly planning to pay £107 million for Osimhen, breaking the previous British transfer record, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
