The thought of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool acquiring ‘technically gifted’ Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram has Jermaine Pennant delighted.

‘TALKS ARE ADVANCED’: LIVERPOOL ABOUT TO SIGN STEVEN GERRARD-ESQUE PLAYER

The 22-year-old is currently representing France’s U21 team at the European Championships. Pennant said that the player is in the Steven Gerrard “mould” and that transfer negotiations for Khephren Thuram are also “advanced.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has recently been playing this hybrid midfield role, and Alexis Mac Allister has already been signed. According to Pennant, the trio combined would create a “strong midfield” for Liverpool.

Whilst the Anfield faithful want Liverpool’s midfield to be sorted this summer by new faces coming in, those very same supporters are also calling for Alexander-Arnold to be moved into the middle of the park.

Given that the Reds haven’t been linked with any right-backs yet, it probably tells you that it won’t happen.

Either way, a player of Thuram’s skill set and future potential would be a smart purchase by Liverpool and Pennant is backing it to happen.

Khephren Thuram is allegedly being brought in from Nice, according to Pennant. “That would be a fantastic signing if it occurs. Apparently, the conversations have progressed.

He is comparable to a box-to-box defender. He achieves success. He may also avoid players. He is capable of scoring goals when having the ball at his feet and moving around defenders. This man is capable of doing this.

“I’m not going to compare him to Steven Gerrard because he was, if I may say so, one of his own but in that mold. One of the players is him. He can skip one player to get back to the goal. He has technical talent. Amazing. great athlete who is swift and strong. additionally has an eye for both goals and assists.

“I think that would go amazingly well alongside a Mac Allister. They will play off each other. If you then throw in Trent Alexander-Arnold, then that’s a strong midfield.”

Can Liverpool make a run for the title?

Only Jurgen Klopp’s team has been able to defeat Man City and, on other occasions, compete with them for the Premier League championship.

The pressure on the players and the manager will increase significantly if the previous season repeats itself because they will only have so much room to maneuver.

However, this Liverpool team is bruised and bleeding. They both have the potential to be the ones to confront and overthrow this powerful, Treble-winning Man City juggernaut.

Roberto Firmino in talks over lucrative Saudi move – medical already planned

Roberto Firmino

Firmino’s contract at Anfield will expire on Saturday, making him a free agent and enabling him to sign with another team.

The Brazilian chose to decline a longer stay at Liverpool in acknowledgment of the upcoming onslaught, although it was widely anticipated that he would stay in Europe.

The Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli is reportedly in talks to sign the 31-year-old, and a medical is already scheduled for this week.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano was among those to report the news, with talks said to be “ongoing” as the club are “waiting for player’s final decision.”

Al-Ahli, who are one of the four clubs now owned by the Saudi royal family’s Public Investment Fund, have offered a three-year contract.

Saudi journalist Khaled Al-Rasheed has even claimed the two parties have “reached a final agreement.”

A medical is already planned for between Wednesday and Friday this week if Firmino gives the go-ahead, which could see him follow a host of high-profile players to Saudi Arabia.

After Cristiano Ronaldo made the transition in January, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, and Kalidou Koulibaly followed suit.

Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Hilal have all been acquired by the PIF, while four additional clubs—Qadsia SC, Al-Diriyah Club, Al-Ula, and Al-Suqoor FC—are under the control of state-owned businesses.

Each of the 18 teams in the Saudi Pro League is now permitted to field a maximum of eight international players.

It has been explained that the PIF are discussing negotiations before new arrivals are really divided across sides, as opposed to the specific clubs actually signing these players.

Rather than the particular clubs signing these players, it has been explained that the PIF are negotiating deals before new arrivals are effectively divided between sides.

This is not the first time Firmino has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with reports stretching back to the start of the year.

Earlier this month, too, AFP reported that the No. 9 was on a list of coveted players along with the aforementioned Benzema and Kante, as well as Hugo Lloris, Luka Modric, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

Busquets has since decided to join Inter Miami instead, reuniting with Lionel Messi in MLS, the Argentine himself turning down a lucrative switch to the Middle East.

The Mail have also reported Saudi interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, though he has previously hinted at his desire to remain in the Premier League.
