Fabinho is reportedly now scheduled to be in Liverpool training today despite a transfer to Al-Ittihad being all-but agreed on by all parties.
According to the Athletic, there is a delay in the process of the Brazilian international being transferred to the Saudi Arabian club, with Fabinho now expected at Kirkbt today having missed the training camp in Germany.
As per the report, the 29-year-old midfielder has acted well throughout the entire process and there is a general expectation that Fabinho will still complete his move to Al-Ittihad at some point during the window.
However, Fabinho returning to Liverpool’s AXA training centre will no doubt raise some eyebrows, especially when you consider how certain it looked like that the midfielder was leaving for the Middle East this week.
With Liverpool expected to pocket £40m from this transfer, the Reds will no doubt be left frustrated that the deal is yet to go through, with a midfield replacement expected to be signed in the coming weeks.
Indeed, Fabinho’s move to Saudi Arabia being delayed will do little to help Liverpool’s pre-season preparations, with the team expected to fly out to Singapore later this week for the next leg of their summer friendlies.
Liverpool could have transfer plans ruined because of Fabinho
Fabinho’s departure looked to be a done deal with confirmation of the transfer expected to be made at some point this week. Yet with the midfielder now due in training today, Liverpool’s plans in the window could be scrapped.
As we know, Liverpool were seemingly ready to move for a Fabinho replacement in the form of Romeo Lavia. However, this update could throw this potential transfer out the window.
Whilst the sale could still go through, few fans will be pleased to see Fabinho back in training today, with supporters hopeful that the delay can be cleared ahead of a potential confirmation later this week.
