Luis Diaz has distanced himself from ongoing transfer speculation around his Liverpool future with an appearance in a music video dedicated to the Colombian national team.
With the summer transfer window set to open for business in five days’ time, plenty of rumours have been circulating regarding the stars that could arrive at Anfield and those that could leave. Diaz firmly falls into the latter category, with Spanish media suggesting that Barcelona could try to tempt the Reds with an offer in the coming months.
But at present, Diaz’s sights are not on an Anfield exit, nor are they on preparing for the next campaign under new manager Arne Slot. The 27-year-old is instead locked in for a competitive summer of Copa America action with Colombia, and to further prove his mind is away from transfers, he has been spotted in the latest music video of Ryan Castro.
The Colombian-born rapper and reggaeton artist revealed his collaborative song with the country’s national team for the 2024 Copa America, titled ‘The Rhythm That Unites Us’. Liverpool’s No.7 along with a number of his national team-mates appear in the video for the song, while Diaz is specifically referenced in one verse.
Translated to English, Castro raps: “Block the street ’cause my national team is playing and today Lucho Diaz is gonna score. What a talented player, what a show, what a player.
“Bring out the flag, bring out the drum. The coolest thing has arrived, the tricolor. With the heat of the coast to add some flavor.”
This year’s Copa America tournament begins on June 20. Matches are to be played in the United States, with the final scheduled for July 14. Diaz’s country, aiming for its first triumph since 2001, have been placed in Group D alongside Brazil, Paraguay and Costa Rica.
