The left-back was forced off with a suspected shoulder issue, following a clash with opposition goalkeeper Unai Simon.

With the score at 0-0, Robertson left the field at Estadio La Cartuja in Seville and was replaced by Everton’s Nathan Patterson just before half time.

It will now be a nervous wait for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool at the start of the international break, with the Reds next in action in the Merseyside derby at home to Everton on October 21st.

Robertson has been a stalwart in Klopp’s teams of recent years, rarely missing a game plus performing both defensive and attacking duties to the highest of standards.

The 29-year-old started Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain this evening, hoping to help his side extend their advantage at the top of Group A to nine points above their opponents tonight.

The Liverpool full-back appeared to be in significant pain after the incident occurred, leaving the field in the 44th minute, substituted while carrying his right arm wrapped up in his shirt like a sling.
