Jurgen Klopp outlines celebration if Liverpool get given two more Premier League titles

Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he would celebrate with a bus parade if Liverpool are handed two more Premier League titles due to the charges facing against Manchester City.

The German was back on Merseyside for another emotional send-off as 11,000 fans gathered inside the M&S Bank Arena on Tuesday evening, nine days since his final game at Anfield. Klopp appeared at the event alongside hosts John Bishop and Peter McDowall and performances from The Lightning Seeds, The Zutons, and opera singer Alfie Boe, who performed You’ll Never Walk Alone.

During a lengthy Q&A session, Klopp discussed a number of topics but lightheartedly admitted he was told not to speak about TNT Sports and 12.30pm kick-offs, referees, Manchester City, financial issues and VAR. However, Bishop raised the subject of Liverpool being pipped to the Premier League by a point in 2018/19 when they finished on 96 points, and again during the 2021/22 campaign.

“You leave this club having won the Premier League once,” Bishop said. “There could be a court decision that means you’ve won the Premier League three times…” Klopp interrupted: “If you organise a bus parade, I’m in! How long it takes I don’t care.”

City were charged in 2023 for 115 alleged breaches of financial rules – charges they deny – with the case set to be heard at an undisclosed date. That was one of the most requested questions by Liverpool fans on Bishop’s Instagram as many fans try and find out the potential implications.

That wasn’t the first time Klopp had spoken about the alleged breaches. Before leaving Liverpool, Klopp admitted he would be interested to know the outcome of whether City are punished for the charges.

“No matter what has transpired at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world — and that is truly significant,” Klopp said previously, via the Manchester Evening News. “If you put any other manager in that club, they don’t win the league four times in a row. That’s down to him and his team.

“Does that mean they can do whatever they want? No. But I don’t know what they did — if they did anything — and I’m not here to say they have. We will see. Of course, I would like to know (if City are guilty) one day. Everyone wants to know. But I will be somewhere else.

“The quality of Pep makes the difference so I don’t worry about these things. We will see. It’s not my problem and I am fine with what we have and what we’ve achieved.”
