Jude Bellingham described Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as “too excellent” after including him in his EA Sports FIFA Team of the Year.
The Dutch defender played a pivotal role in the Reds’ defense in 2022, helping them win two titles and come agonizingly close to winning the Champions League and Premier League.
Bellingham praised Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip as well, but he chose different players for their positions in the starting eleven despite being aware of the Liverpool duo’s performance.
Alexander-Arnold came very close to being included in his team, but the England international went on to explain why he decided to go with Achraf Hakimi of PSG. He responded, “I’m not choosing between the English men; I’m going to pick Hakimi because I’m not choosing between Trent and Walks [Kyle Walker].” “I’m taking Hakimi because he was fantastic at the World Cup and I won’t get killed for choosing him,” someone said.
Bellingham proceeded by saying this more about defenders: “Actually, Matip had a tremendously successful year. I enjoyed seeing him. I constantly think about Van Dijk, guy. He is too skilled. Militao, I’ll put him there and next to him.”
Given the mounting rumors regarding the 19-year-future old’s in Germany, Liverpool fans will undoubtedly be hoping to see the teenager start alongside Matip and Van Dijk next season. Bellingham is one of the best talents in Europe, and Jurgen Klopp’s team is quite interested in signing him, but they will probably need to spend more than £100 million to do so.
The complete list of Bellingham’s Team of the Year members is as follows: Thibaut Courtois, Joao Cancelo, Virgil van Dijk, Eder Militao, Achraf Hakimi, Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric, Federico Valverde, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe.
