Liverpool defeated Leicester City at Anfield on Friday night to keep up their outstanding Premier League dominance.
The Reds announced that they had secured a deal for the transfer of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven just two days prior to that victory. The forward joins Anfield after a great World Cup performance with the Netherlands, and he was there at Anfield for the 2-1 triumph over the Foxes.
But how likely is it that Liverpool will recruit some of the well-known players who have been mentioned in recent weeks’ rumors?
SkyBet has the latest transfer odds and it makes for interesting reading. It’s important, however, to take most of it with a pinch of salt. The players listed below are the names who the Reds are ‘most likely’ to sign in January…
Moises Caicedo – 2/1
Last week, the Ecuadorian publication Teradeportes stated that Liverpool was prepared to make a signing offer for Caicedo to Brighton for a sum of about £62 million ($70 million). The ECHO is aware that these rumors are untrue and that Liverpool and Brighton are not negotiating a transfer for the midfielder.
However, this hasn’t prevented rumors this month of the Ecuadorian international moving to Anfield. Caicedo has made 27 appearances in all competitions since joining Brighton in 2021, with two goals and two assists.
Jude Bellingham – 5/2
Despite the Reds’ long-standing interest in transfers, Bellingham will face competition to join them at Anfield. Since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2020, the 19-year-old has become one of the most popular players in German football and has made himself one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
Bellingham’s skills were noted by Jurgen Klopp before Christmas, who called the midfielder “outstanding.” The England star, who according to recent sources, was valued at £130 million by Dortmund before his World Cup performances, is reportedly a target for both Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Sofyan Amrabat – 3/1
Amrabat was one of the World Cup’s biggest stars for surprise package Morocco thanks to his solid performances in the middle of the field. Some of the top clubs in Europe have apparently taken notice of his remarkable performances, including Liverpool.
The midfielder, who has a deal with Fiorentina through 2024, recently discussed rumors of a transfer away from the Italian team. He told the Spanish daily Marca, “I’m happy to be connected to major clubs like Barcelona and Atletico.”
But I play for Fiorentina, I appreciate the team, and I get along well with the president. Simeone, [Diego] Even though Fiorentina has a wonderful coach, I still prefer El Cholo’s [Simeone’s] style of play.
Kylian Mbappe – 6/1
Reports emerged back in October claiming the attacker would look to leave PSG in January after becoming disillusioned with his situation at the club. That report came just months after the 23-year-old forward signed a new three-year deal with his current employers, despite at one point looking certain to seal a transfer to Real Madrid.
Mbappe himself has expressed his admiration for Klopp’s side and revealed last year he held talks with Liverpool over a possible move six years ago. However, speaking back in November, the French international reaffirmed his commitment to Paris Saint-Germain.
“You can stay here [PSG] to have success,” he told Sports Illustrated. “For us it’s a big message, because when I announced I stay, a lot of things change in the mentality of people. People start to say, ‘Yeah, we don’t need to go out. You don’t need to leave the country’.”
Declan Rice – 7/1
The England midfielder has advanced in the game as a result of several outstanding performances for West Ham United in the Premier League and at the international level. He is now thought of as one of the best in his field.
When Rice indicated he intended to win awards and compete in the Champions League during the World Cup, this aroused some questions. However, since that admission, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have all expressed interest in signing him.
But Hammers manager David Moyes warned last month that he would not “roll over” and let his captain leave the team in the summer. But we won’t just sit back and let Dec leave the building, that much is certain, stated Moyes. It’s movingItingIt is going to be a big fight.”
Youri Tielemans – 8/1
The midfielder’s future at the King Power stadium beyond next summer is really in doubt because he has a contract that expires in the summer and is thus eligible to start talks about a pre-contract with foreign teams this month.
Due to his impressive performances since joining the Premier League in January 2019, the Belgian has been constantly linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal. However, neither team could begin open transfer negotiations with the 25-year-old and his agents until the summer months.
