Ibrahima Konate says Andy Robertson is not Liverpool’s quickest full-back this season.
It’s that time of year again, when the Liverpool squad learn their FIFA video game ratings. Although the game has now been rebranded as EA Sports FC, that hasn’t stopped the Reds from giving their annual reaction to their scores.
While it usually falls to Virgil van Dijk to do the honours of revealing his teammates ratings, Konate and Diogo Jota were on hand this year, to hilarious effect.
Among the things we learned during the video released on Liverpool’s YouTube channel today, was that EA think Trent Alexander-Arnold is faster than Robertson.
Revealing this fact was the Reds’ No.5, who told Trent – who was rather disappointed with his 76 pace rating – that he was at least faster than his full-back friend. “He’s quicker than Robbo and Macca,” said the Frenchman. Some consolation at least.
Robertson loses out to Trent
We’re not quite sure we agree with these ratings. Pace has never really been one of Alexander-Arnold’s strongest points, while Robbo is a little road-runner.
How many times have we seen the 29-year-old racing forwards to keep pace with the likes of Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.
Trent bombs on, of course, but he tends hold back a little more, looking for areas he can affect the game with his passing ability.
Robertson on the other hand loves to get beyond his winger and whip balls in from deeper areas.
With the two being notoriously competitive amongst themselves, this little slight will no doubt be painful for Robertson, and will delight Trent.
That’s a shame for Robbo, who is often put in the shade by his younger teammate.
Not that he’ll be wallowing too much though, after all, the shade is the Scotsman’s natural habitat!
