Liverpool might have picked up what could be a valuable point at Arsenal today but former defender Jamie Carragher was left far from impressed with his old club.
Liverpool snatched a late equaliser through Mohamed Salah to keep up the pressure on Man City and keep Arsenal five points behind the champions.
For the Reds, it was vital they maintained their excellent start to the season and Arne Slot will be happy with a draw at a title rival.
However, with Arsenal having the likes of William Saliba out injured and seeing Gabriel go off injured in the game, some will feel it’s a dropped chance for Liverpool.
And according to Jamie Carragher, that’s exactly the situation.
Jamie Carragher shares why he’s unhappy with Liverpool’s draw at Arsenal
Speaking on Sky Sports as the full-time whistle went, Carragher lamented his former club and admitted to being disappointed in what they’d produced at The Emirates.
“I must say I was disappointed with Liverpool,” Carragher quipped.
“When you think of the problems Arsenal had [with injuries] during the game then l would have expected them to create a lot more.”
Liverpool will take a point but a win was there
In fairness to Carragher here, he does make a good point and Liverpool will feel they might have got a win and effectively killed the Gunners’ title challenge off.
But on the day, they just didn’t produce the goods needed to deserve or take the win.
Ian Wright pointed out how Bukayo Saka had run Andy Robertson ragged and in the first half, that was very much a feature of the performance.
Liverpool are still doing well and will go with their point and take it. But on the whole, a win was there and on another day, it could easily have been a huge three points.
