Harvey Elliott shares difference between Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp that’s got Liverpool players ‘excited’

Written by admin

Harvey Elliott has given his thoughts on the big differences between Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp that have now got the Liverpool squad excited for the new season.

The Dutch coach has this summer been tasked with filling what could be impossible shoes, with the legacy of Klopp at Liverpool one that will loom over the Anfield side for many years to come after the German’s departure.

Despite the size of Slot’s job, early signs have been encouraging, with Curtis Jones already coming out and saying how much he thinks the new system is going to benefit his style of play, with Liverpool likely to play a more possession-based game under the former Feyenoord manager.

And Elliott has now shared what the rest of the squad are feeling about Slot.

Liverpool squad ‘really excited’ to get going under Slot

Speaking to the press after yesterday’s training sessions, Elliott revealed that there is a buzz around the Liverpool players on Slot’s new ideas heading into the new season, with the midfielder excited to implement them in pre-season.

With Arsenal coming up next for the Reds, Liverpool will face a good test in the north London side in how far Slot has taken this team tactically this summer, with the Merseyside giants already winning in the United States against Real Betis.

And Elliott is excited about what’s to come from Liverpool in the coming weeks heading into the new season, with the midfielder saying when asked if the team are excited about the new tactical system:”I think it excites everyone.

“The style of play is a little bit different, it’s more about being in possession, but the players are really excited, it’s got a good buzz around it. The lads are really excited to play games, we’ve got a big test against Arsenal in a few days and it’ll probably be the best way see how things are going.”

Player excitement is a huge sign of what’s to come at Liverpool

Replacing Klopp was always going to be difficult for the Reds, yet based on Elliott’s comments coupled with what else has been said this summer, big things seem to be on the horizon for Liverpool in the new season.

The players already seem sold on working with Slot and taking on the Dutch coach’s tactical ideology after nine years of Klopp, with the players responding well to what the new Liverpool manager wants to do on the pitch.

And with spirits high and players open to new ideas, there’s a good chance that Liverpool can make a big impact in the upcoming campaign, with Elliott seemingly keen to get back to business with the Reds.
