For large parts of the summer transfer window, Liverpool have been fairly quiet and they have done no business at all.
But heading into the final stretch of the window, Arne Slot could be about to make some final late tweaks to his squad and one possible deal has left Daniel Sturridge shocked.
From potential incomings to outgoings, it’s all going off, with the window slamming shut on Friday and clubs now rushing like unprepared shoppers on Christmas Eve.
Taking a look at what has already been confirmed, Liverpool have completed the signing of goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, but they have loaned him straight back to the Spanish giants.
That signing is for the future and Liverpool fans can look forward to watching him in action during the coming years.
But the Liverpool fans want some excitement and added quality to their squad for the here and now. And they might be about to get their wish.
If you asked those inside Anfield, the type of signing they would crave the most is bringing in a number six because it’s a possible area of concern.
But Liverpool have already been rejected by Martin Zubimendi and they have decided to look away from that position and look further ahead the field.
Saudi Arabia-linked Mohamed Salah has 12 months left on his current deal and many fear that he will head for the exit door for nothing.
In that case, a replacement is needed and it could now come in the form of Italy international and Euro 2020 winner, Federico Chiesa.
Sturridge stated on Twitter that if this deal is signed, sealed and delivered, then it would be a ‘top-tier’ capture from the Merseyside club.
Liverpool are set to sign Chiesa in a £12.5 million deal and it has left Sturridge ‘genuinely shocked’, as he explained the type of player heading to the club.
Federico Chiesa transfer fee
“Chiesa to Liverpool is a top-tier signing,” wrote Sturridge. “Really good 1v1 , pace, tenacious and can finish.
“Genuinely shocked at the price tag. Mike and Jools strike again lol…”
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future
Salah has started well under Slot, but it shouldn’t be a surprise because he is one of the best forwards in the Premier League for a reason and class is permanent.
Yes, how he ended the previous campaign was disappointing, but he wasn’t the only one in the Liverpool dressing room whose form went out of the window.
At the age of 32, it’s easy for the club to forget about handing Salah a new deal and letting him walk out of that door for nothing next summer.
But it would prove to be a huge mistake because Salah’s fitness levels are still incredible and he can still be a game-changer for them.
