Despite taking some time to get going, Diogo Dalot has made his mark at Manchester United. The buzz surrounding the Portuguese international was high when he came at Old Trafford from FC Porto. However, he had to work his way up the ladder and spent a season on loan with AC Milan.
Dalot, though, has spent the last 12 months as Manchester United’s first-choice right-back. The 23-year-old had a strong 2022–2023 season, making 23 appearances and contributing one goal and two assists. The player’s development has also caught the interest of a number of prestigious clubs, including Barcelona.
In the summer transfer window, Barcelona will attempt to strengthen the right-back position in order to satisfy Xavi Hernandez’s need for a long-term solution. Hector Bellerin was let go by the Blaugrana during the January transfer window. The only choices available to the Barcelona manager for right-back are Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto.
