There is a “real chance” for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to leave Stamford Bridge this summer amid a concrete interest from Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Mount is one of the seven Chelsea players whose contracts with the club end in the summer of 2024.
It makes sense for Chelsea to consider cashing in on these players rather than allowing them to enter their final year of contracts.
This applies to Mount, too, although Chelsea are reportedly still keen on extending his contract.

The decision will be made at the end of the season, and according to Romano, Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation.
“At the moment it’s a total stand-by for Mason Mount regarding the contract talks,” the Italian journalist explained on his YouTube channel.
“Everything stopped, so there are no active negotiations, and it will probably be decided in the summer.
“The feeling is that there is a real chance for Mount to leave Chelsea at the end of the season. As things stand, an agreement [on a new contract] is not close.
“It is also important to say about Mount that Liverpool’s interest is concrete. He’s one of the names they have on their list.”
Romano also added that the managerial situation at Chelsea could have an impact on Mount’s future at the club, too, since despite Saturday’s over Leeds United, Graham Potter is not exactly safe.
Having previously been touted as a future Chelsea captain, Mount’s exit would disappoint a lot of fans.
His performance this season has been underwhelming, of course, but this is also the case for most players in this Chelsea side.
But based on Romano’s claim, however, that Chelsea and Mount are nowhere close to an agreement over an extension, it is understandable that the club would want to avoid the possibility of losing him on a free transfer next year.
