David Beckham shows true colours with desperate Man United request before Liverpool clash

David Beckham has asked fans to sing his name more ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Liverpool. The Red Devils lock horns with Arne Slot’s side at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in what is expected to be a feisty bout.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping to extend United’s unbeaten streak against the Merseyside outfit, drawing each of the last two Premier League games and winning an FA Cup quarter-final tie. While the Red Devils may be full of confidence heading into the fixture, the players will need the home faithful to cheer them on after every pass, shot and tackle.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the clash, Ten Hag issued supporters a passionate call to arms, promising to ‘go for it’. The Dutchman said: “I think that’s often the case and I’m sure the fans are ready for it now.

“And the fans are ready together with us to take the fire, to take this good challenge, and we are all excited. Fans are excited, the team is excited and in togetherness. We will go for it.”

Speaking on the ‘First We Feast’ Youtube channel, the United legend begged the home faithful to sing his name more, claiming he ‘rarely’ hears his chant at Old Trafford anymore. He said: “The fans sing a lot about older players and players from the past, but I never seem to hear it as much.

“Maybe because I don’t go to many games, but even on the telly I hear songs about Eric Cantona and Bryan Robson and Roy Keane from Manchester United fans, but I very rarely hear, ‘There’s only one David Beckham.’

“That was only really the only chant that I wanted to hear and I’d like to hear it again, if any United fans are watching, please! Just from time to time. I’m still a United fan. Every now and again, ‘There’s only one David Beckham.””

Beckham featured 390 times for United, scoring 85 goals and providing 121 assists. During his time at Old Trafford, the former England international won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League.
