Arthur Melo opens up on a ‘difficult’ and ‘complicated’ year in emotional message to Liverpool fans

Written by admin

Arthur Melo, a midfielder for Liverpool, has discussed his life’s “hardest year” and described the difficulties he had in 2022.

On transfer deadline day in the summer, Arthur joined the Reds on loan from Juventus. Liverpool paid a £4 million loan fee and have the option to purchase him outright for roughly £33 million.

However, due to a major muscular injury, the Brazilian has only played 13 minutes of football for the Reds. He underwent surgery back in October, and the initial recovery projection had him out of commission until the beginning of 2023.

Arthur signed for Juventus in 2020 as part of the swap deal that took Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona. But the 26-year-old only made 24 starts in Serie A and found himself on the margins of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans last season.

The Liverpool star has already opened up on Instagram about how challenging 2022 was for him.

The hardest year of my life will be in 2022, he wrote. A difficult football season with numerous injuries, criticisms that I had to endure in silence without the chance to at least respond, many sleepless nights due to physical pain, numerous days spent in the hospital, and the agony of anticipating the medical report in the hope that it wouldn’t keep me from doing what I enjoy most—playing football.

“The year in which I took the most development as a football player to achieve my goals. 2022 was the year I dedicated the most off the field, trained the most, tried the most and was the year I had the most problems on the field.

“A year marked by significant emotional upheaval in my personal life, a year in which the more I struggled, the worse things got! The most crucial factor is that 2022 was the year in which I developed the most as a person—as a son, a boyfriend, a friend, and an athlete!

“I just have to thank 2022 for all the lessons I learned from it; it was a challenging year and a terrible time. But it was a year that I learned a lot from and will carry with me into the years to come. Welcome 2023 and thank you 2022! Be courageous and steadfast.
