Alexis Mac Allister’s wondergoal for Liverpool against Sheffield United earned Gary Lineker’s seal of approval.
The Argentinian stepped up when the Reds needed him most to rifle a half-volley into the top corner, restoring their lead in a 3-1 win over the Blades. Darwin Nunez’s stubbornness was rewarded in the first-half after his block from Ivo Grbic’s clearance handed Liverpool the lead.
Conor Bradley inadvertently turned Gustavo Hamer’s header past Caoimhin Kelleher to bring the Premier League’s bottom club level. It was a moment of brilliance from Mac Allister to put Liverpool back ahead as he arrowed his strike into Grbic’s top-left corner in front of the Kop.
The 25-year-old’s strike is another goal of the season contender for the summer signing, after his superb strike against Fulham. Lineker took to X after the outstanding effort from the World Cup-winning midfielder.
He tweeted: “What a strike from Mac Allister. Ooosh!”

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has been in inspired form as of late for Liverpool. Mac Allister has come into his own in the Liverpool midfield, assisting Mohamed Salah’s winner against his former club last time out and scoring a crucial goal against Chris Wilder’s side.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were looking to restore their place at the top of the Premier League. This week, their title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal won their respective outings – beating Aston Villa and Luton Town.
Arsenal’s win sent them back to the top-flight summit, while City leapfrogged the Reds – albeit momentarily – after Phil Foden’s treble inspired them to victory over the Champions League hopefuls. Cody Gakpo headed home a third from Andy Robertson’s delivery to rubberstamp the 3-1 win
