‘After the game’: What Chris Sutton spotted Arne Slot do for the very first time after Liverpool beat Villa

Liverpool are heading into the final international break of the season on the back of yet another victory.

Arne Slot’s side were able to dispatch of Aston Villa on the weekend in front of a packed Anfield to increase their lead at the top.

Considering all of the concerns some may have had about a change of manager over the summer, it has been a seamless transition at Liverpool.

Michael Owen has been left so impressed by Slot with the Reds capitalising on the stuttering sides around them in the league.

With another three points in the bag on Saturday, pundit Chris Sutton admitted he spotted Slot doing something for the very first time at Anfield.

What Arne Slot was spotted doing at Liverpool vs Aston Villa

Seeing Jurgen Klopp walk away from his tenure on Merseyside will have created a lot of worries for those in red over the summer.

And Martin Zubimendi rejecting a move to Liverpool will not have filled the fans with much optimism for the season ahead.

But Slot has slotted in well at Anfield and he has now been spotted celebrating in front of the Kop end after the win against Villa.

“I don’t know whether it was me or whether you noticed, but after the game, he [Arne Slot] did go over to the Kop and there seemed to be that connection,” said Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“The first time I have seen him go over and that sort of way where there seemed to be that, there was a connection before, but whether they had necessarily accepted him, they had accepted him.

“But Klopp was a chest-beater, wasn’t he, going over after games, what have you, there seems to be a connection in that respect that it’s a good start, Liverpool fans are very knowledgeable, but that’s all it is.”

Arne Slot hailed Liverpool fans during Villa win

Liverpool have now been able to open a five-point gap at the top of the Premier League ahead of this final international break of the year.

Slot’s early impact at Liverpool has wowed Micah Richards and it is apparent the Dutchman already has the Reds onside too.

Speaking after the game on the weekend, Slot hailed the atmosphere which had been created by the home fans.

“I cannot tell what the fans felt about that. I can only tell that if my players need extra motivation for a result on the pitch, that would not be a good idea,” he said after the game in his press conference.

“I think if you play at Anfield in front of your own fans you should always be motivated and that’s what they’ve been for the time I have been here now and probably the years before as well.”
