The fact that Chelsea’s new signing Joao Felix was dismissed on his Premier League debut has provided Liverpool motivation heading into their upcoming home match against the Blues.
The Blues gave the Portuguese international his first start against Fulham on Thursday after signing the Atletico Madrid star on loan this week in a £9.7 million deal that will last until the end of the season.
However, the 23-year-old forward’s stint in West London could not have begun worse after he was shown a straight red card for a reckless high lunge on Kenny Tete, forcing referee David Coote to eject Felix right away.
Felix will now serve a three-match ban and that will mean he misses the crunch Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, January 21.
At Craven Cottage, Fulham was leading the West London Derby 2-1 at the time of writing.
