Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have now reportedly received a boost in their quest to sign Tyler Adams, with Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea making a complete U-turn over the Leeds United midfielder.
Earlier this week, 90min reported that Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing Tyler Adams from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.
The report claimed that Chelsea had made contact with the representatives of the USA international midfielder and that Liverpool were among the clubs who were keeping tabs on the situation.
Adams, also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford, has a release clause of £20 million in his contract at Leeds, who are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
The Athletic is now reporting that Chelsea have decided to make a complete U-turn over a potential deal for Adams.
The 24-year-old was in London to finalise a move to Chelsea, who were on the verge of triggering his £20 million release clause.
Chelsea decision on Tyler Adams transfer boost for Liverpool
Adams wants/wanted to move to Chelsea, but the Blues have decided not to further their interest in the American star.
Chelsea are reportedly now trying to beat Liverpool to the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion.
This decision from Chelsea will encourage Liverpool regarding a potential move for Adams.
Now all Liverpool need to do is trigger the £20 million release clause in Adams’s contract and then agree personal terms with him.
We believe that Adams would be willing to move to Liverpool.
After all, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand.
And under manager Jurgen Klopp, Adams would improve and get better in the coming years.
Adams made 24 appearances in the Premier League and played two matches in the FA Cup for Leeds last season.
