Liverpool’s players and staff have jetted off to Spain for their Champions League second-leg tie against Real Madrid.
The Reds head to the Spanish capital in need of a miracle after being beaten 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield. Holders Real – who beat Liverpool in last season’s final in Paris – became the first side to score five at Anfield in Europe despite going two goals down early on as the hosts made a dream start to this last-16 tie.
Jurgen Klopp’s side need to win by three goals to force extra time, or 4-0 to win it in 90 minutes. The odds are stacked against the Reds.
Liverpool boss Klopp, along with Fabinho, will face the media at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night after his side trained at the club’s AXA Training Centre earlier on today. Captain Jordan Henderson was missing from the session, as was Thiago Alcantara.
Stefan Bajcetic was also missing from the session, but as the below pictures show, was among the Liverpool travelling party at John Lennon Airport heading to Madrid. But Luis Diaz – who did his own individual session on Tuesday – was not pictured boarding his side’s flight.
In total, there looks to be six players missing from the Reds’ travelling party. As well as Henderson, Diaz and Thiago, Arthur Melo, Calvin Ramsay and Nat Phillips were not pictured boarding the plane.
